Learn Computing
with CyberAble
The computer tuition is open to all people with disabilities between
the age of 18 to 25 who are residents of the London Borough of Lewisham. The tuition
is provided in small groups of up to 6 students. This enables a very high level of
input from the IT staff and enables the tuition to be focused on the particular needs of
individual students.
Purpose
To provide a high level service to young disabled
people in the area. The tuition can be tailor made to individuals needs. This could be
anything from a very intense short term course designed to make a student proficient in
the use of particular software or a long term goal of accomplishing general IT skills.
Qualifications
If it is appropriate to the students needs we will enable the
individual to achieve a vocation qualification: NPTC (National Proficiency Test Council).
The purpose is to provide young disabled people with a foundation in vocational skills.
These qualifications have basic goals which are realistically achievable. The
qualification is attained through the practical ability to do the subject and continuous
tutor assessment. There are no formal examinations. Every student will be encouraged to
further develop their potential with higher qualifications/skills and employability as a
goal.
Details
Students will be studying to achieve, at first the NTPC Foundation
Course in Information Technology level A & B. In the future, if possible, the centre
will aim to provide a more advanced qualification for students who are more able. The

processing, desk top publishing and graphics. Students will be familiarized with the
Internet and shown the multi media capabilities of the personal computer.
